Waddington - is a rural village in Lincolnshire.

Which can be found approximately four miles south of Lincoln on the A607 Lincoln to Grantham road.

The village is best known for its large military base RAF.Waddington. Which is an important airbase east of the village centre and one of the oldest bases in the UK, founded in 1916 for the Royal Flying Corps.

RAF Waddington is the RAF's E3D Sentry (a.k.a. AWACs) reconnaissance aircraft base having earlier housed the Avro Vulcan nuclear bomber force.

There are 2 squadrons of AWAC teams (8 Sqn and 23 Sqn) and 7 planes each named after one of the seven dwarfs.

Some Nimrod MR1 reconnaissance planes are also based there.

RAF.Waddington's International Airshow is one of the largest in the UK and usually takes place in the last weekend of June. Attracting up to 100,000 visitors and representatives from Air Forces worldwide.

Short-term visits from different NATO and Swiss fighter squadrons can generate occasional additional noise for the local residents ( thanks ).
