Barrowby is a large village in Lincolnshire.
Which can be found approximately two miles to the west of
Grantham.
To visit by road take the A1 motorway to
Grantham,
where it connects to the A52,
The local church is All Saints.
Barrowby village proudly stands on an escarpment, which is over three-hundred feet above sea level over-looking the Vale of Belvoir.
Hence the name Barrowby which means 'settlement on a hill'.
An archaeological survey of the area was done in 1971, which revealed flints and pottery
dating back as far as the Neolithic age and subsequent occupation by the Danes and the Norman's.
All Saints church is presumed to date from 1215, though its exact age is not known,
but records do show an earlier building of wooden construction
( referred to in the Domesday Book of AD 1086 )
and possibly used for pre-Christian worship once occupied the same site.
