Aunsby is a small rural village in Lincolnshire.

Which can be found approximately nine miles east of Grantham and five miles south of Sleaford.

The local church is dedicated to St.Thomas of Canterbury.

Saint Thomas Church is a very impressive piece of architecture complete with some very unusual and interesting features. Look to the top of the spire and the inscription "Ave Maria" can be clearly seen on a clear bright day.

The tower and the spire were taken down stone by stone in 1861 and then rebuilt re-using and replacing each stone exactly as it was. This impressive work was supervised by the Grantham architect Mr.W.Thompson.

Around the south aisle parapet can be found a lovely continuous scroll carving which is just one example of the beautiful stone carving which can be seen, some of which in design looks to be hundreds of years before its time. Attention to detail and beautiful carving of an earlier period confirm the early origins of Aunsby, such as the scalloped Norman capitals to the chancel arch and the unusual square leafy capitals from the late Norman period to the North aisle arcade.

The font is very similar to the one in Aswarby church both of which are considered to be late Norman in design.

The roof and fittings are all part of the 19th century Victorian restoration work which in comparison even though still impressive may be regarded as dull when compared to the work done by the Norman stonemasons.
