Aslackby is a small village in Lincolnshire.
Which can be found between Bourne and Sleaford just off the A15.

Local history and historic research show that during the medieval period It was a preceptory of the Knights Templar which is believed to have been founded in the reign of Henry II.

Today there are no standing remains or evidence to be seen of this preceptory of Knights.

The Knights Templar were one of the most famous of the Christian military orders
which existed for approximately two centuries in the Middle Ages. Originaly created from the aftermath of the first crusade in 1096 to ensure the safety of the large numbers of European pilgrims who travelled towards Jerusalem after its conquest.

They were a very unusual order in that they were both monks and soldiers which make them some of the earliest known monastic warriors in the Western world.

Members of the order played a key part in the many battles during the Crusades.

The order's power, infrastructure and wealth innovated many financial techniques which are now considered to be the foundation of modern day banking.

The order grew in membership, power and wealth throughout Europe until it ran foul of King Philip IV of France who then had members in France tortured into making confessions of which many were known and believed to be false,
they were then burned at the stake.

King Philip and Pope Clement V forcibly disbanded the order on
Friday the 13th October 1307.

( preceptory - plural preceptories)
A community of the Knights Templars - or the actual buildings - estate of such a community.
