Alkborough is a village which can be found in north Lincolnshire.

Over looking the point where the Rivers Trent & Ouse become the Humber known as the Trent Falls.

Alkborough Flats is an area known for conservation. Its flood defences are now part of the Humber Shoreline Management Plan which is a long term project designed to lessen the risk of flooding in towns situated along the Ouse and Trent by realigning the existing flood defences. As such water will be allowed to breach the existing flood defences at Alkborough Flats and flood approximately 430 - 450 hectares of land which will then become a salt marsh.

The creation of this salt marsh will then reduce high water levels throughout the Humber Estuary and eventually become a new National Nature Reserve.
